21 Months Later

Photo's taken September 18, 2013

I've been trying to concentrate on planning our second annual Halloween party and all the fun things I want to do next month with Buggie. Truth is, it's all just a distraction. A distraction from the fact that, yet again, Liam will not be with us for any of the upcoming holidays. Planning things usually helps me keep my mind off of the sadness but it's hit me like a ton of bricks. I can feel depression grabbing my ankle and trying to pull me under the waters I've been trying so hard to keep my head above. I want to do all the things we weren't able to do when Liam was here because he was always too sick. I want them for my daughter. But I also want to do nothing but stay curled up in bead in sweat pants and hide from the world. Every day is a battle. Some days easier than other days. Still I put a smile on my face and continue on even when I don't feel that smile. It'll be two years in December. People will say things like "you need to move on" or "you need to get over it". What they don't understand is there's no moving on from the loss of a child. You carry it in your heart and in your soul until your reunited. There is no moving on. Losing a child is nothing like breaking up with a crappy boyfriend. You feel the loss of a child every day in everything you do. When your walking through the house and your no longer stepping on hotwheel and trains. When your doing the laundry and there clothes are no longer there to be washed. When your making dinner and there's one less person to feed. When you go somewhere fun like the fair and you and your husband turn to look at each other and say that you feel you've forgotten something but you haven't forgotten a thing. Your just missing a child. I wish I could hold my little lamb and tell him how much I love him. I wish I could smother him in kisses and play cars with him. It never goes away.
❤️💙Liam❤️💙

Child loss awareness month is October. Please help spread awareness. If you have an angel, feel free to share their name so we can pray for the when we light our candles on the 15th for the wave of light.

9 Days

Two years ago today,
life seemed to be as perfect as our lives got.
A year ago today,
we felt even luckier.
Liam may have been struggling with a "cold",
but we were all home,
happy,
and loved.
A cold wouldn't ruin our happy bubble of life.
Liam was doing great in school.
He was jumping those hurdles almost as fast as they popped up.
He was surrounded by friends who supported and loved him.
They showed more love and compassion towards Liam that I thought was possible for any 4 and 5 year old child's capabilities.
They put so many of my worries at ease.
They gave us more hope for the future.
Liam could do anything with friends like that at his side.

Lanie was doing great at school as always.
Things were exciting at school with Christmas crafts and break coming up.
They would sing Christmas music throughout the day and talk about what they wanted from Santa.

Things couldn't have been better.
They were the best they've ever been.

What we didn't know was that there was a darkness lurking.
Everything would soon change.

In  9 days it'll be 1 year since we lost our little Lamb.
1 year since we last saw his smile.
1 year since we last heard his voice.
1 year since we last held him.
1 year.
12 months.
365 days.
Of pure torture.

(12/6/2014)

Life is completely different.
There's a missing piece of us in everything we do.
Sometimes I can still hear the echo of his laugh,
or feel him tugging on my shirt.
My arms still remember what it's like to hold him.
I'm scared I'll forget.
That I'll one day forget his voice.
Or forget how it felt to hold him.
There are days when this all feels like a coma induced nightmare.
I can't make it all go away no matter how hard I try.
I can't bring him back no matter how much my heart aches for him.

Blowing Dandelions

(Liam September 21st, 2015)

Dear Sweet Liam,
My little angel,
I don't understand this life without you.
Your pictures,
Your things,
And this hurt,
Are the only reason I know you really existed.
I go through each day like a zombie,
Never really living,
Just existing.
I'm trying to see the light in this storm.
It should me simple.
It is simple.
You were hurting,
And now your not.
You lived a life of pain,
And now your suffering has ended.
I wanted so badly to believe that you were ok.
Every night I prayed for your health.
Lord please make each day better than the last.
Each day was better,
Even through the set backs.
It was better until it wasn't.
I know your suffering has ended.
I know your healthy and happy in heaven.
I wish I could see it.
I wish you were happy and healthy here.
Everyday I wake up and pray.
Lord please let me make it through today.
Throughout the day I pray.
Lord please let him be ok.
Lord please tell him I love him.
Lord please hug him for me.
A mother should never have to say these prayers.
I mother should never have to lose a child.
But here I am,
Where you are not.
Lost and broken inside.
Part of an exclusive club of heartbreak,
That should never exist.
If I could hold you,
I would.
If I could kiss you,
I would.
If I could whisper in your ear that I love you,
I would.
Instead I tell the butterflies.
I tell the sun each morning.
I blow dandelions and wish for you.
I love you sweet boy.
Until I get there,
Please hold that piece of my heart close.

Miss Connection

I look for you everywhere.
I miss the connection.
I miss the smiles.
I miss cuddles.
I miss you.

Everyday I look for you.
Or memories of you.
Flashbacks of you.

Every day Facebook shows me pictures from that day,
in years past.
I stare at them throughout the day.
I remember when I took them.
How I felt.
What we were doing.

At first,
after you passed,
I had a hard time eating your favorite foods.
They just made me really sad.
Sometimes so sad I was sick to my stomach.
Things have changed.
You loved Dorritos so much.
You always had a bowl full.
I had gotten to where I couldn't stand to even smell them.
You just wanted them so much.
It had been at least a year since I had eaten them.
All of a sudden,
I just started eating them.
They weren't gross to me anymore.
If left up to me,
we'd eat spaghetti,
pizza,
and a few other of your favorites all the time.
Because while I'm eating your favorites,
I feel a small connection to you.
And that makes me feel better.

I keep some of your toys on display.
Some cars,
stuffed animals,
and other random things.
I don't play with them,
but sometimes I touch them.
I stare at them and try to remember you playing with them.
How many times per day you filled your bucket up with cars,
carried it to another room just to dump it out.
I think of how many times you were sick,
and all you needed was your patchwork puppy baba to feel better.
How when we lost it and I searched everywhere to find it.
And when I didn't find it,
I secretly went online and purchased another one.
Then found the original a week later.
How I think you suspected the new one was different,
but decided you didn't care.
I had to always keep one hidden so you wouldn't know.
Then one day about a year ago or so,
you walked out of your room carrying both.
You had such a huge smile on your face.
I felt like I failed,
but the smile on your face let me know it was ok.

I miss these moments.
I just miss you.
I'm trying everyday to be strong.
I've adopted a new saying:
"Liam strong".
Because you kept going,
you kept smiling,
you ever complained.
Even how sick you were always.
I'll try everyday to be strong like you.
To be "Liam Strong".
Love you sweet boy.
